(the adventure continues)

Hearken to my Nightmare:
(A minotaur lurks my mind within the labyrinth where strings are cut
and heroes unallowed are sought.)
A riddle said,
The answer given,
The passage seen,
The journey ridden,
The storm is passed,
The tunnel sighted,
The foe is down!
The idol knighted.
But where dear sir did Rabbit go?
Well, down the hole, that’s all I know.
Follow suit, I care not whether
you break a bone not here nor thither.
For in this EAT ME/DRINK ME world
Where inside out your were unfurled,
The way to seek the rainbow’s tip?
Follow the suicide yellow-brick trip.
I’ve been that road, killed the evil witch,
and drank a toast to that mean old bitch.
I’ve ridden the wind back home again
All in one night, in Morpheus’ den.
Next evening’s trip is to the East
Where scheduled am I to sup with the beast
that breathes a fiery welcome’s hail
and circles the world with his gold-scaled tail.
You’re welcome to go, it’s a round trip ride
All you need is whimsy, be fantasy’s bride.
And when you awaken next dawn you’ll agree
that nothing compared to that Nightmare with me.
Then,
next night again,
Back to the land of shadowy dreams
where nothing is ever as it seems.
Where the mind plays a dirty trick of fear
and twists your soul till you come out queer.
It’s a place I visit very now and then
if only to remember the aching yen.
I quite like the pain my heart withstands
during the trip through the fiery land.
It’s a human frailty I endure with grace
A pain I nightly have to face.
